| Participation: | My son and I joined our local Boy Scout troop in order to spend time together serving our community. Assisted with the remodeling of a local church chapel, spent a week each year in rural Missouri helping re-roof buildings and building fences at a Boy Scout camp there, helped feed the homeless at Christmas in downtown Dallas, sang Christmas carols at a local retirement home, annually placed flags on soldiers’ graves at a local cemetery on Veteran’s Day to help recognize their service, helped raise money for our troop’s Eagle Scouts to help them perform their own service projects, etc. |

Portland is a great town for bicycling, but has a lack of off road riding that is close enough to ride to from within the city limits. I am an avid cyclist and hope that by volunteering I can help to create more opportunities to ride off road in Portland. |

The camp plays an amazing role in the lives of the children with severe or life-threatening illnesses and families it serves. The camp was founded by Paul Newman and is one of a nation-wide network of camps called the Hole in the Wall Gang Camps. |
