Participation: Fundraising. Adopted a Rhodesian Ridgeback from a shelter and every year our family walk with it and collect donations for the Anti Cruelty Society of Chicago.

Participation: My son and I joined our local Boy Scout troop in order to spend time together serving our community. Assisted with the remodeling of a local church chapel, spent a week each year in rural Missouri helping re-roof buildings and building fences at a Boy Scout camp there, helped feed the homeless at Christmas in downtown Dallas, sang Christmas carols at a local retirement home, annually placed flags on soldiers’ graves at a local cemetery on Veteran’s Day to help recognize their service, helped raise money for our troop’s Eagle Scouts to help them perform their own service projects, etc.

Participation: Volunteer as part of a neighborhood of approximately 40 homes to construct and assembly Christmas Displays to decorate a city park and homes. An estimated 5,000-10,000 visitors will drive through the neighborhood during the month of December.

Participation: Greenspace clean up and future trail building in support of the Friends of Gateway Green work to create off road bicycle and other recreational activities in an otherwise unused area of green space.  Portland is a great town for bicycling, but has a lack of off road riding that is close enough to ride to from within the city limits.  I am an avid cyclist and hope that by volunteering I can help to create more opportunities to ride off road in Portland.

Participation: Fundraising for Motor Neuron Disease in honor of a friend who is impacted by Motor Neuron Disease and organizes the event.

Participation: Serves on the Board on Directors for about five years and help with strategic advice, fundraising, and general governance. The camp plays an amazing role in the lives of the children with severe or life-threatening illnesses and families it serves. The camp was founded by Paul Newman and is one of a nation-wide network of camps called the Hole in the Wall Gang Camps.
